Two Arrested In Belait Raid
By Liza Mohd

Kuala Belait - Thirty-seven foreign workers were inspected out by the Belait Immigration Enforcement Section Thursday morning in an operation codenamed `Berkas 98'.

An Indonesian and a Filipino man were arrested for failing to produce identification cards and vital documents pertaining to their stay and employment in the country.

Meanwhile, six foreign workers were also issued with special passes for clarification and further investigation.

The continuous operation is held to detect immigration offenders and ensure that all foreign workers abide with laws in the Sultanate.

The operation, which started at 8.20am and ended three hours later, targeted five construction sites, residences and shops surrounding the Belait areas.

It was carried out based on complaints from members of the public and areas believed to hold immigration offenders.

The Immigration noted that it would continue to carry out patrol and inspection to detect and monitor Immigration offenders or workers listed as runaways.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
