Hit-And-Run Victim Injured, Makes Appeal
By Za'im Zaini

Bandar Seri Begawan - "I hope that the driver will come forward to the relevant authorities," said the victim of a hit-and-run incident, which inflicted serious injuries.

Abdullah Asgar is a reporter from the government's official newspaper, Pelita Brunei, and the incident occurred last Tuesday at Jalan 60 in Kg Perpindahan Rimba around 11.20am when it was raining.

The victim is currently receiving treatment at RIPAS Hospital and on Wednesday had to undergo a six-hour operation on his neck near the spinal cord. He received 18 stitches to his head and the left side of his face is bruised, while he is also experiencing pain on his neck and upper body.

Abdullah Asgar's van, which swerved to the roadside after being hit by a white vehicle, was luckily spotted by a couple who passed by and came to his aid before calling the police, ambulance, fire and rescue at 11.45am. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
