26 local writers
By Azrol Azmi

Local writers and guests listen as Dr
Mataim (R) delivers his remarks.
Twenty-six local writers signed a
Memorandum of Agreement yesterday with the Director of Language and
Literature Bureau, Dr Mataim bin Bakar, to have their books published.
Held at the Language and Literature
Bureau (DBP) in the capital, the signing ceremony was also witnessed
by Hj Zainal Ariffin bin BPKDP Hj Sirat, Head of Publishing, Media and
Aesthetics, among other guests.
Under the MoA, three novels, one book
on knowledge and 21 pictoral story books will be published by DBP in
its effort to become the biggest publishing agent for local writers in
the Sultanate. Among the local writers whose books would be published
are Dato Paduka Awg Hj Muslim, Awg Hj Mohd Salleh bin Abd Latif and
Awg Hj Sawal bin Rajab.
The books, which will be available
soon to the public, are among the 66 book titles to be published by
DBP in the near future. The book titles were produced as a result of
the Story Book Composition competition and Story Book Illustration and
Drawing competition held last year.
