Police Personnel Get Familiar With
Ire Safety

Begawan - It is vital to be familiar with the necessary plan of
action in case of fire emergency, taking into account the right
procedures, safety and effectiveness.
In view of that, 16 Reserve Unit `A'
Seria police personnel recently took part in a three-day fire
preventive scheme course to provide exposure and basic knowledge on
the perils of fire and mishaps, as well as to identify fire preventive
and protection systems and fire-fighting customs.
The course, which concluded
yesterday, was also aimed at providing knowledge on methods of
escaping, rescuing fire victims, to form a safety awareness attitude
and the risks of fire occurrence.
The contents of the course included
identifying Brunei Darussalam Fire and Rescue Department organisation,
fire protection high-rise buildings, chemicals, fireextinguishing
equipment, first aid, process of evacuation and adequacies, as well as
Fire Operation H1 and H2 marching parade.
During the course, participants had
an opportunity to learn different scenarios of fire and rules of
action, evacuation and what should be done in case of an occurrence of
fire.
In addition, participants also gained
knowledge, necessary in day-to-day life, such as safety tips at home
and fire protection systems in buildings.
Participants were also taught on the
science of fire such as 3D fire, fireextinguishing methods and the
flow of a fire spread.
According to Mohd Taha bin Bakar,
Operation `B' Branch Public Relations Officer, about 60 people,
comprising private company officials, youths, teachers and school
officials, in Belait District had already participated in the fire
preventive course this year.
The 16 participants will be awarded
with certificates of completion at the Seria Fire Station sometime
