52-Year-Old Man Dies In Road Mishap

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 52-year-old man identified as Wee Ong Pok was killed in a head-on collision with another car at F7, Jalan Utara Panaga on Tuesday afternoon.

He was pronounced dead at 7.10pm after succumbing to his injuries at the Intensive Care Unit in Suri Seri Begawan hospital. Meanwhile, a 44-year-old woman driver, identified as Chin Choon Moi, of the other car escaped with minor injuries to her eye and knee.

The Seria Fire Station, received the emergency call at 4.19pm and deployed 11 firefighters from Seria Fire Station, led by Assistant ASST Supt Pg Rosli bin Pg Hj Ahmad, at the accident site to rescue the victim, who was trapped inside the vehicle.

He was reported to have been gravely injured as a result of the impact.

According to the police, the accident happened when the deceased, who was driving a saloon vehicle and headed to Kuala Belait, overtook a car ahead of him but failed to get back into his lane in time and collided with a car from the opposite direction driven by the woman.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
