Youths Participate In Fire
Prevention Course

Twenty youths from the Belait District last week took part in a
three-day firefighting voluntary course held at the Fire and Rescue
Station Kuala Belait. The cousre was aimed at encouraging youths to
assist in any way during an emergency situation, particularly at their
residential areas.
Participating youths were members of
the Kunci Batu Association and the course was one of the association's
activities and projects to increase knowledge on fire prevention, as
well as to identify fire-extinguishing equipment.
According to Mohd Taha bin Bakar,
Operation `B' Branch Public Relations Officer, throughout the course
participants were taught various firefighting theories, as well as the
functions and tasks of the Fire and Rescue Department.
Participants were also informed on
the methods of using fire-extinguishing equipment. Apart from that,
they were also briefed on the guidance of evacuation in case of an
emergency.
After completing the course,
participating youths were presented with certificates by Abdul Azis
bin Hj Mohamad, Officer Commanding Operation `B' Belait District.
Meanwhile, association leader Awang
Irwan Rino bin Nordin said the course will continue at the end of this
year. He also hoped for more participation among the younger
generation, particularly students.
