Soupspoon In Sex Charge

Bandar Seri Begawan – The bizarre story of a man wanting to use a soupspoon for sex emerged in the Brunei High Court yesterday.

A 40-year-old Indonesian maid was testifying against Krishnakumar Devan, 37, an unemployed driver facing a rape charge before Mr Justice Dato Steven Chong.

The woman told the court that Krishnakumar, a Tamil from Madras, had forced sex seven times with her in various positions last year from April 16 8 pm to 7am the next day.

On the eighth occasion when he could not perform anymore he produced a soup spoon from somewhere and tried it on her.

“I grabbed the spoon and threw it away,” she told the court.

Krishnakumar replying to the charge of forced sex with her in Kampong Mulaut near the Brunei capital said that she offered herself and he paid her. “I thought she was a prostitute,” he told the court.

She was willing and she apparently enjoyed it, said Krishnakumar who had lost his job shortly before.

He thought that was the end of it. But to his surprise he was arrested and put in remand jail in Jerudong. He is pleading not guilty.

On her part the woman is saying that Krishnakumar, went to her saying that his boss wanted a massage.

She went with him into a room where he took off her clothes and had sex with her. He grabbed me from behind with one hand and undressed me with the other, she told the court.

“I did not enjoy it. But he forced me and said he wanted to help me. And then he stripped me and had sex,” the woman told to court.

Krishnakumar took voluminous notes during the hearing and at one stage when the woman’s husband gave evidence he suggested that her husband did not sufficiently care for her and had neglected her.

If not how come he had allowed his wife to go with a foreigner at night, suggesting that the husband had so many other wives in Indonesia.

Deputy Public Prosecutors Dayang Farhana Pehin Dato Hj Suhaili and Dayang Noradinah binte Ramlee are prosecuting.
