Lanka Beat Brunei 9-2 in hockey

Bandar Seri Begawan - Kuantan - Malaysia maintained their unbeaten run in the 3rd Asian Schools Under-18 Hockey Championship here and booked a ticket to the final with a match left to go.

They thrashed Thailand 17-0 at the Kuantan Hockey Stadium yesterday morning.

In another match at the Sukpa Stadium, Sri Lanka beat Brunei-9-2. Presently, Malaysia are on top of the table with 12 points, followed by Sri Lanka (nine), Singapore (six), Thailand (three), Brunei (three) and Indonesia (zero).

Malaysia's coach Mokhtar Baharudin Abdullah said he was satisfied with the determination shown by the squad.

"The players have no problems playing against any team and they only need to be reminded not to be complacent.

"Nevertheless, I'm proud with the team that was formed only a month ago. Most of them play at the national level," he said. Mokhtar said he was confident of defeating Indonesia in their last qualifying match today. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
