Hjh Nurul Adjudged Perfect Beauty

Bandar Seri Begawan - Hjh Nurul Ajeerah was speechless when she was crowned as the winner in the Perfect Beauty Contest 2006.

Hjh Nurul, who was on stage during the announcement of the winner along with other finalists, received her tiara and prize from Ms Christine Tan Yoke Hong of Hua Ho Department Store.

Meanwhile, Nurul Diana bte Emran and Elyna bte Yunos were adjudged first and second runner-ups respectively in the contest.

Both winners received their tiaras and prizes from Ms Elaine Lim of L' Oreal Paris and Maybelline and Ms Serene Lim of Triumph International respectively.

Two other awards were also presented including Special Award Triumph International -'Miss Body Beauty' that was presented to Amalina bte Alimin and Farah Li bte Omar- and the 'Maybelline Award 360-Degree Dazzling Look' was won by Amalina bte Osman.

The event, jointly organised by Hua Ho Department Store, L'Oreal Paris, Maybelline and Triumph International with support from Katty Salon at the Hua Ho Manggis Ballroom on Sunday, was attended by over 200 guests.

The first competition of its kind received an overwhelming response with over 200 applications received since it was announced in early July this year.

However, only 30 contestants made it through to the final round where ten finalists were selected on Sunday.

Judges for the competition included Ms Christine Tan Yoke Hong of Hua Ho Department Store, Ms Elaine Lim, a make-up artist from Singapore for L'Oreal Paris and Maybelline and Ms Serene Lim, Assistant Advertising and Promotions Manager for Triumph International.

All finalists were later judged on criteria including poise and appearance, modelling ability and self-confidence, personality, communication skills in interviews, complexion and body line.

A workshop by Triumph International presented by Serene Lim entitled `The Right Fit' and a L'Oreal Make up demonstration were also presented to members of the audience.

The competition featured exciting prizes including $1,500, $1,100 and $700 worth of L'Oreal Paris and Triumph goodies for the winner, first runner-up and second runner-up of the competition.

Meanwhile, recipients of the Triumph International and Maybelline award received $150 Triumph voucher and $150 hamper respectively. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
