Bulletin Photographer Wins Top Prizes

Bandar Seri Begawan - Borneo Bulletin photographer, Haji Mohd Said Arshad, won top prizes in two categories of photography contests organised by the Association of Photographers of Brunei Darussalam'(APBD).

A prize presentation ceremony entitled APBD Appreciation and Achievement Night was held at Seameo Voctech in Gadong last Saturday night. Present as the guest of honour was Pehin Dato Haji Ali bin Haji Mohd Daud who presented the prizes.

The two contests were organised by the association on their two recent outings.

Entitled "Day and Night Bandar Seri Begawan" and "Model Photography at Bukit Shahbandar", the contests were participated by members of the association that joined both outings.

The creativity in special effects category for the Model Photography at Bukit Shahbandar was won by Haji Yakub Dato Paduka Hj Sunny.

According to Haji Shamsuddin Idris, president of ABBD, last Saturday's event was also organised to gather the members towards exchanging and sharing ideas in photography.

He said the contests were organised to spur aspiring shutterbugs into producing their best in future activities.

"All photographs will be part of the photography collection of APBD for future exhibitions.

"Out of thousands of shots we had taken, it is understandable that only some could be regarded as artistic and worthy to be displayed at exhibitions.

"The rest would be studied by members at workshop so we could all learn the rights and wrongs of photography taking," he said.
