By Za'im Zaini
Bandar Seri
Begawan - A delegation of 25 officers and staff from the
Information Department, Prime Minister's Office, made a working visit
to their counterparts at the Sabah Information Department from
September 5-8.
The group was led by the Acting
Assistant Director of Information, Hj Yussof bin Hj Ladi.
The visit was aimed at improving the
level of services provided by the Information Department, by exposing
its officers and staff to the duties and activities of the Malaysian
state's Information Department.
The trip also provided the officers
and staff from both departments to interact while exchanging ideas on
conduct of their duties.
The visitors first stopped at the
headquarters of the Sabah Information Department in Kota Kinabalu,
where they were welcomed by the Director of Sabah Information, Hj
Almain Ajirul. Soon after, they heard a briefing by Hj Mohd Taib bin
Hj Ubah, the department's Assistant Director of Community Branch,
BESTARI.
A question and answer session was
also held.
The Brunei delegates also visited
Kota Marudu for a closer look at the Komuniti BESTARI programme
initiated by Sabah Information Department. The programme is aimed at
boosting the frontlines of grass-root leaders, while disseminating
information to the Sabah communities.
The visitors also had the chance to
visit the School of Arts Studies as well as the Social Science School
at University Malaysia Sabah, and learned about academic programmes
available that are relevant to activities implemented by the Brunei
Information Department.
Other activities organised during the
visit included a dinner and a friendly bowling competition to further
strengthen the relationship between the two sides. -- Courtesy of Borneo
