Masjid Duli Pengiran Muda Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah Wins 'Tilawah Al-Quran' Competition

Bandar Seri Begawan - In conjunction with His Majesty's 60" birthday celebration, the Takmir committee members of Perpindahan Lambak Kanan Mosque held a 'Tilawah al-Quran' competition at the mosque recently.

Nine readers took part in the competition, which was open to those above 50 years old in the Brunei-Muara District.

Prizes were presented by the guest of honour, Pg Hj Mustapa bin Pg Hj Aliudin, acting director of Haj Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs. The penghulu ofMukim Berakas `B', Hj Ismail bin Apong, as well as other village heads and residents attended the event.

Hj Tahir bin Hj Ladis from Masjid Duli Pengiran Muda Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah emerged as the champion. Meanwhile, Hj Md Hussin bin Hj Md Salleh from Masjid Mohammad Bolkiah andAwg Mahmud bin Hj Abu Bakar from Masjid Kg Selambigar came in second and third respectively.
