Govt Helps Families To Repair
Damaged Roofs

Begawan - Fifteen Brunei Muara families whose roofs were
damaged due to strong winds last August 9 received financial
assistance from the government yesterday afternoon.
A total sum of $10,875 was handed
over to the recipients through the Community Development Department,
Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport.
On behalf of the government, the
financial assistance was presented by Dato Paduka Awang Haji Jemat bin
Hj Ampal, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and
Sport.
"Half of my house roof was damaged.
All my furniture and electrical appliances were also damaged," said
Awang Samsudin Bin Hj Asmat of Kampong Tamoi Ujong,
"The wind was blowing very strong and
suddenly my roof was gone. My wife and two children were terrified.
"At the moment, the damaged roof is
covered with canvas," he added
"Thanks to the financial assistance
from the government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of
Brunei Darussalam, I could repair my roof." -- Courtesy of Borneo
