Minister Of Education At Asean Cookery Skills Competition

Bandar Seri Begawan - Minister of Education, Pehin Dato Awang Haji Abdul Rahman visited Maktab Teknik Sultan Saiful Rijal (MTSSR), the venue of the Asean Cookery Skills Competition on Saturday afternoon.

He was accompanied by Deputy Minister of Education, Pg Dato Dr Hj Mohammad and Deputy Permanent Secretary at the ministry, Awg Hj Mohd Daud bin Hj Mahmud.

Earlier in the day, the wife of the Minister of Education, Datin Edah Mohamed Noor, also visited the MTSSR Kitchen to witness the cookery competition.

She was accompanied by Jennifer Hiew Lim, Executive Secretary for the Secretariat of the Brunei Darussalam Technical Vocational Education Council, Cikgu Jamal bin Hj Kahar, Director of the Department of Technical Education, and wife of the Deputy Permanent Secretary, Dyg Salina bte Abdullah.

The entourage returned to the college later in the afternoon for a tasting and sampling session, where food prepared by competitors from the various Asean member countries were served to the guests.

Datin Edah Mohamed Noor also visited the International Convention Centre to see how the competitors were doing in all the different skill areas of the cookery competition, specifically in Restaurant Service and Ladies Dressmaking. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
