Deputy Permanent Secretary Visits School

Bandar Seri Begawan - Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Dato Paduka Awang Hj lshaaq bin Hj Abdullah, yesterday made a working visit to Sekolah Arab Jerudong.

Dato Awang Hj lshaaq was welcomed by Ustazah Hjh Fatimah bind Hj Ahmad, Principal of Sekolah Arab Jerudong and Dayang Hjh Fatimah bte Hj Abdul Ghani, Assistant Director of Islamic Institute as well as officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

The visit started with the recital of doa al-Fatihah by tlstaz Awang Hi Mohd Hisham bin Hj Maidin, Religious Education Officer, followed by a briefing by Ustazah Hjh Fatimah on the history of the school and its academic planning, activities and achievements, teachers' development and the 3K programme.

At the end of the briefing, a discussion was held between Dato Awang Hj lshaaq and the school authority.

In the discussion, Dato Awang Hj lshaaq stressed on the importance of the 3K and the student excellence programme.

He also urged the school authority to foster a good relationship with the community at large especially parents in assisting the school to raise the students' performance and to help conserve a harmonious school environment.

He said students must be taught to be proactive and to shoulder responsibilities entrusted to them in carrying out tasks and activities.

The school was first known as Sekolah Persedian Arab Beribi. After a fire incident, the students were transferred temporarily to Mahad Islam Brunei Kg Kilanas Branch on April 1, 1996. Later, they were transferred again to the old building of Sekolah Ugama Beribi, which is known as Sekolah Persidian Arab.

On March 29, 2004, the school was moved to Sekolah Ugama Jerudong and it was officially declared on August 3, 2004 as Sekolah Arab Jerudong.

The vision of the school is to produce a younger generation with good personality and high moral values and its mission is to educate Brunei youths in religious knowledge for the future benefit of the country. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
