Don't Fall For Sob Story, Public Warned
By Rosli Abidin Yahya

Bandar Seri Begawan - The public is advised not to fall for the sob story of a woman who roams the capital preying on the gullible.

The woman tells potential victims she is having financial problems after her electronic transfer card (ETC) has been swallowed by a bank's machine. She approaches victims after the banks are closed, around 3pm on weekdays or I1 am on Saturdays.

A victim who fell for the sob story said the woman approached him about noon last Saturday and told him her ETC card had been swallowed by an ATM as she had forgotten the password and entered the wrong number several times.

She told him she could only get her card on Monday when the bank reopens.

"I gave her $10 as she told she did not have any money to go home by taxi. However, I spied on her and saw her approach another person but she was not successful with that man," he said.
