Jail And Whipping For Passport-Less Entry

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 23-year-old Indonesian man was sentenced to three months imprisonment and three strokes of the cane by the Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday after he pleaded guilty to entering Brunei Darussalam without any valid pass.

Rahmat Kurniawan bin Arto was arrested by a team of personnel from Bandar Seri Begawan Police Station and officials from the Immigration Enforcement Section in the vicinity of BSB central bus station two days ago.

The court heard that the defendant had entered this country on April 29, 2006 by car without a passport through the Sungai Tujoh Immigration Control Post. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
