By Malai FadleyRizal
Bandar Seri
Begawan - A permanent resident, aged 32, was fined $1,300 after
pleading guilty to charges under the Customs Act. He settled the fine.
Willie Chung admitted to unlawful
possession of liquor on the first count and cigarettes on the second
charge.
In court, the defendant admitted that
police officers near the Kuala Lurah Control
Post stopped his vehicle to conduct
an inspection upon seeing some suspicious persons - the defendant and
his two passengers - on September 4.
The officers found 24 cans of Tiger
beer, four bottles of Smirnoff Vodka and two cartons of cigarettes.
All of the goods were undeclared.
The court ordered for the undeclared
goods to be forfeited for destruction and the defendant's car returned
to him. -- Courtesy of Borneo
