Bersanding Held At Surgical Unit
By Za'im Zaini& Hj Minor Absah
Bandar Seri
Begawan - A "Bersanding" ceremony took place at the Surgical
Intensive Care Unit of the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS)
Hospital yesterday.
Mohd Adiman Hj Abu Bakar, aged 24,
symbolically placed a ring on Hjh Dyg Siti Noorfatimah Bte Hj Ramli's
finger in the presence of more than 100 family members and friends as
well as hospital staff, who said it was the first Bersanding they had
ever witnessed at the hospital.
This was followed by a doa to bless
the newlyweds. The bride's father, 55-year-old Hj Ramli Hj Mohd Don
from Kg Lambak Kiri, told the Bulletin that the couple had planned in
advance for their wedding ceremony, however Dyg Siti Noorfatimah was
admitted to hospital more than three weeks ago as she needed to
undergo an operation.
Family members said the bride and
groom last Friday held a low-key yet meaningful "Akad Nikah" at the
groom's home in Kg Lambak Kanan.
A Medical Officer at RIPAS hospital
said, "When staff found out about their 'Akad Nikah' last Friday and
in view of the Ministry of Health's 'Tekad Pemedulian Orang Ramai', it
was necessary to help and give the couple an opportunity to hold a
Bersanding outside the operating room". The Medical Officer also
admitted that he has never seen a Bersanding take place at the
hospital.
Khairul Bin Hj Daud, the nurse who is
attending to Hjh Dyg Siti Noorfatimah, shed tears of joy because the
cooperation between all those involved had made the ceremony a
success.
The bride and groom told the Bulletin
that they were happy to have had the Bersanding ceremony and thanked
the Ministry of Health and staff of RIPAS Hospital for making the
event happen.
The couple's families organised the
Bersanding in cooperation with the Surgical Unit of RIPAS Hospital.
