Thousands Of Fans Watch Concert With KDI Stars

Bandar Seri Begawan - The JPCC Amphitheatre was packed yesterday with thousands of workers who came to watch a charity concert by Kontes Dangdut Indonesia (KDI) artistes Eny, Imelda and Andy, as well as TVRI host and rock singer Lina Hara.

The audience was mostly made up of Indonesian workers, who were given permission by their employers to attend the show, although about a thousand more people were reported to have been stranded at the capital's bus station caused by limited journeys to the venue, and others walked to Jerudong.

The Konsert Amal Indonesia 2006, which ran from about 10.30am to around 4pm, saw the four artistes performing 32 songs with backing from the local band Orkes Dangdut Sateria led by Cikgu Hj Yahya Hj Mahmud.

There was a break to give way to the Zuhur call for prayers and for lunch. Those who donated cash towards the charity drive were also able to go onstage to meet and sing with their idols.

Eny sang "Mbah Dukun", "Syahdu", "SMS", "Nirmala", "Jujur" and "Perahu Layer", while Imelda belted out "Mabuk Janda", "Liku-Liku", "Anoman Obong", "Final Countdown", "Bang Thoyib" and "Ku Tlah Jatuh Cinta".

Andy rendered "Cinta SekonyongKonyong Koder "Kata Pujangga", "Kenangan Terindah", "Laguku", "Pangeran Dangdut" and "Sri Minggat". -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
