To better understand the culture and people of Japan, Dayang Rafidah Jumat, a journalist from Media Permata, the only local Malay language newspaper, will be in Japan from tomorrow until September 20 for the Asia-China Press Group Invitation Programme 2006.

She is going to be joined by a number of journalists from China HK Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.

During the trip themed "Tourism", Dayang Rafidah will head to Tokyo as well as Osaka and Hokkaido, and visit some of Japan's most famous destinations, like Shiretoko National Park's Unesco World Heritage, Oshinkoshin Falls and Asahiyama Zoological Park, among others.

Dayang Rafidah said, " I am very excited to be able to visit Japan. This will be my first trip there and I would like to visit as many tourist sites as possible."

She is also going to take a closer look at some presidency campaigns by visiting the headquarters of Japan's Ministry of Land Infrastructure and Transport.

Last Thursday, the Embassy of Japan in Brunei hosted a luncheon for Dayang Rafidah at Zaika Restaurant in Yayasan Shopping Complex.

On hand to brief her about the trip was Minister Counsellor Mr Koichi Morita. Also present were staff members from the embassy and previous participants of the Japanese programme.
