Brunei-Muara Pip Belait To Be
Silat Champions

Begawan - Brunei-Muara ended up champions in Pesta Sukan Remaja,
Pencak Silat event, after topping the standings with 5 gold, 4 silver
and 4 bronze medals when the event came to a close yesterday. Six
finals were contested at the multi-purpose hall of the PengiranAnak
Puteri Hjh Masna Secondary School in Lambak Kanan.
Runners-up with 5 golds, 2 silvers
and 5 bronzes was Belait, while the RBAF Sports Council were third
with 3 golds, 5 silvers and 3 bronzes.-Tutong finished fourth (34-5)
and Temburong (1-2-7) went home from the competition in fifth place.
Brunei-Muara's Haniten Noraisah Md
Salleh was `gifted' the Women's Class C (55-60 kg) gold after her
opponent was disqualified. The Men's Class D (60-65 kg) gold was won
by Belait's Khuzaiman Ahmad, who beat Md Saiful Syamsir Sawi of the
RBAF Sports Council in the decider.
Meanwhile, MohdAmali Hj Malik of the
RBAF Sports Council beat Tutong's Md Azri Dzulkefli to win the gold in
Men's Class C (55-60 kg).
The Men's Class A (45-50 kg).win was
claimed by Brunei-Muara's Ak Md Sukri Pg Jaludin after he defeated
Belait's Mohd Fakhrul Zainal Abidin, while Belait's Rohana Mohd Razali
who beat Norleyermah Hj Raya of Tutong for Women's Class A (55-60 kg)
gold.
The Men's Class I (85-90 kg) gold
went to Brunei Muara's Md Redha bin Hj Adinin. He beat RBAF Sports
Council's Ak Khairul Bahri Pg Ali Omar.
The president of the Brunei
Darussalam Pencak Silat Association (PERSIB), Pg Jaya Indera Pg Hj
Mokhtar Puteh bin Pg Hj Rajid, gave away prizes to all the winners.
The Men's "Most Promising-Pencak
Silat Participant" award went to Brunei-Muara's Md Redha bin Hj Adinin,
