Princess Masna Attends Peace Day
Celebration

Begawan - `By inculcating `Peace Begins With Me' minds we can
cultivate patience, tolerance, generosity, good values and concern as
well as understands each other better. These are the seeds of peace
and harmony amongst family members and community, and the foundation
in nation building towards global peace."
This was stated by President of the
Girl Guides Association of Brunei Darussalam, Her Royal Highness
Princess Hajah Masna, at the Peace Day 2006 celebration yesterday. The
celebration was held at the Girl Guides Association Headquarters in
Berakas.
Upon her arrival, HRH Princess Hajah
Masna was greeted by Vice Presidents I, II and III, Datin Paduka Hjh
Zaharah Hj Idris, Datin Paduka Hjh Jusnani Hj Lawie and Datin Paduka
Hjh Masni Hj Mohd Ali respectively. Also on hand to greet Her Royal
Highness was Deputy Chief Commissioner, Dyg Hjh Vivianti Hj Ali.
HRH Princess Hajah Masna in
delivering her sabda said she was proud to see the association mark
its 55th anniversary, hailing its success in implementing its
objectives, carrying out activities and strengthening relations with
Girl Guides abroad.
Her Royal Highness highlighted
achievements of the association including expanding cooperation with
Girl Guides associations at regional and international levels in their
effort to support peace and the spirit of friendship. She added that
the association had enabled members to increase their capabilities to
the highest level possible.
HRH Princess Hajah Masna said it was
timely for the association to reassess their achievements throughout
its 55 years and plan the direction it will take over the next five
years in time for its 60th anniversary.
She hoped to see more projects
implemented with emphasis on youths and community welfare, and
increase training for its members by inculcating their creativity and
innovativeness.
Her Royal Highness pointed out that
the current "Solidarity Gathering" the association conducts that
involves their counterparts from Singapore is an activity that must be
encouraged to build a spirit of friendship between both associations.
HRH Princess Hajah Masna also
consented to launch the "Puteri Gemilang" CD in commemoration of the
association's 55th anniversary, which contains Girl Guides songs and
songs specially composed for the association.
Later, Her Royal Highness presented
certificates of appreciation and the Girl Guides Friendship Badges to
senior members, support groups and sponsors who contributed to the
association.
The Girl Guides Association also took
the opportunity to present Her Royal Highness with a birthday cake in
conjunction with her birthday on September 6.
Peace Day is celebrated globally and
is an annual event of the World Association of Girl 'Guides. In Brunei
it is celebrated during the first week of September.
The event is carried out to celebrate
world peace, with emphasis on humanity and the environment.
This year's celebration in Brunei
focused on community service, which saw 25 selected local Girl Guides
from various schools and visiting Girl Guides from Singapore, carry
out several community services in Tutong district.
Also held was a forum on "Caring
Citizens", participated by two members of Brunei Girl Guides and two
