Strength & Efficiency A Must For Firefighters

Bandar Seri Begawan - Vigilance, efficiency, skill, robustness, discipline, diligence, responsiveness and readiness are some of the characteristics that need to be instilled in each firefighter to effectively perform his duties as a rescuer.

This was stated by Pehin Dato Paduka Hj Awang Dani bin Hj Ibrahim, the Acting Minister of Home Affairs as the guest of honour at the passing out parade ceremony for the Series 3/2006 Cadet Officer Recruit's basic course and the Squad 41/2006 Male Firefighter Trainer's basic course, which was held at the training center of the Fire and Rescue Department in Lambak Kanan, yesterday morning.

Citing examples in which characteristics of strength and efficiency are a must for a firefighter to carry and handle rescue equipment, Pehin Dato Hj Dani said that without such characteristics, it would be hard for firefighters to complete their assigned task.

Also present at yesterday's ceremony were Pg Hj Mohd Daud bin Pg Hj Mohammad, the Acting Director of Fire and Rescue Department, Acting Superintendent Hamdani bin Hj Abd Latif, Commandant of Fire and Rescue Training Centre, and other officials from the Fire and Rescue Department. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
