Massive Booze Haul In Capital

Begawan - A total of 371 cans of Tiger Beer and 3 bottles of
alcoholic drinks were seized by the enforcement officers of Royal
Customs and Excise Department in the latest operation conducted at one
of the hotels in the capital on Thursday night.
The seizure was deemed the largest
haul of alcoholic drinks at a single location so far this year by the
Royal Customs and Excise Department.
Acting on a tip-off from a member of
the public, a team of 16 enforcement officers from the Intelligence
and Preventive Section of the Royal Customs and Excise Department, led
by the Acting Senior Superintendent of Customs, successfully raided
the targeted room on the second floor of the hotel.
During the operation, the enforcement
officers discovered 83 cans of Tiger Beer, three bottles of alcoholic
drinks and five glasses of beer in a room that had apparently been
converted into a drinking bar.
During an extended search at the
lower level of the building, the officers managed' to find a total of
288 cans of Tiger Beer concealed inside five luggage bags under a
stairway.
The Intelligence and Preventive
Section of the Royal Customs and Excise Department meanwhile urged
members of the public to provide any information that would enable the
Department to take swift action against contraband activities in
Brunei Darussalam, by contacting the hotline 8714422 or 2382422.
