Amorous Driver Ends Up In Jail

Bandar Seri Begawan - An unemployed driver who wanted "a bit of fun" has ended up in the Brunei High Court charged with rape.

Krishnakumar Devan, 37, replying to the charge of forced sex with a 40-year-old Indonesian domestic help on April 16 last year in Kampong Mulaut near the Brunei capital said that she offered herself and he' paid her. "I thought she was a prostitute," he told Mr. Justice Steven Chong. .

She was willing and she apparently enjoyed it, said Krishnakumar who had lost his job shortly before.

He thought that was the end of it. But to his surprise, he was arrested and put in remand jail in Jerudong. He is pleading not guilty.

On her part, the woman is saying that Krishnakumar, a Tamil from Madras, had gone to her saying that his boss wanted a massage. She went with him into a room where he took off her clothes and had sex with her seven times from (April 16) 8 pm to next day at 7 am.

"I did not enjoy it. But he forced me and said he wanted to help me. And then he stripped me and had sex," the woman told the court. Deputy Public Prosecutors Dayang Farhana Pehin Dato Hj Suhaili and Dayang Noradinah binte Ramlee are prosecuting. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
