HSBC Staff 'Bleed For Love'
Together
By James Kon
Bandar Seri
Begawan - HSBC held its second blood donation campaign this
year at HSBC Chambers in Bandar Seri Begawan.
During the whole day event yesterday,
around 100 staff members donated blood.
Among those present to donate blood
were Rosdi Amin Dato Yaakub, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of HSBC
and other senior managers.
The event, which was part of HSBC
Cares Corporate Social Responsibility activity, is held bi-annually
with the first one held in April this year.
Under the HSBC Cares programme, the
bank will continue to be involved in such humanitarian campaigns as a
way of giving something back to the community.
"The second campaign this year has
seen our regular blood donors as well as more new faces supporting
this worthy cause. Finding suitable donors is always a challenge. So
to counter this, we have come up with the theme `Are You My Type?' for
the campaign," said Rosdi Amin.
Under the theme, HSBC staff members
were invited to "make a date" with their spouses, friends or
colleagues to donate blood together as a couple or a group of friends.
Couples and friends had their
pictures taken together as a memento of their noble act.
There were about 30 couples/groups
who "bled for love" together.
"This new concept has proved very
successful because we notice that experienced blood donors have teamed
up with first time donors to offer support and encouragement.
"The positive response and sizeable
participation is a reflection of our staff's eagerness to donate their
time and energy towards activities that benefit the community as a
whole," he added.
