Belait Pertiwi Donates To Orphans & Special Children

Kuala Belait - The Belait District Orphanage and Special Children's Fund was boosted by a contribution from the Belait Pertiwi Association branch yesterday morning.

The sum of $3,526.55 was handed over to the Acting Belait District Officer Awg Shahminan bin Hj Tengah by association chairperson Dayang Fatimah binte Tanji.

The donation came from 10 per cent of the proceeds from the Hari Raya Charity bazaar organised last year, said Datang Fatimah.

This contribution will add joy to the orphans and handicapped children in the Belait district during the coming Hari RayaAidilfitri celebration, she said.

A charity sale will be conducted at the Seria District Office hall this year.

Participation by association members has been encouraging, she said.

Dayang Fatimah urged the public to drop by at the charity sale during the Ramadhan month and shop while donating to the less fortunate people in Belait.

The Belait District Office said as of yesterday, the Belait Orphanage Fund has received $3,583.28 accumulated since February this year.

Meanwhile the office announced that in conjunction with His Majesty's 60th birthday celebration, a golf tournament will be held at Panaga Club on Sept 8 to 10.
