By Huraizah Ahmad
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Over 120 employees from the Royal Brunei Catering (RBC)
Aircraft Catering Centre (ACC) joined a fire drill where three
"trapped victims" were rescued by the Fire Safety Brigade from the
Department of Civil Aviation.
Two fire truck engines manned by
eight fire safety personnel were present during the drill. Commanding
Officer (Head' of Operations) of the Civil Aviation Fire Safety
Department, Abdul Rahman Safar and Deputy, Mujib Islam led the fire
safety team to assess the drill.
The drill is done every year to
ensure that all personnel are aware of all safety procedures in case
of fire emergencies. These include switching off all electrical and
flammable gas appliances, exiting through proper fire exits and
assembling at allocated assembly area, said RBC Aircraft Catering
Manager Faridah Teo Abdullah.
We need to continuously update all
RBC personnel on proper safety procedures while integrating a more
successful procedure to be implemented for emergency procedures, she
said.
Two assembly zones, in front and at
the back of the Aircraft Catering Centre, were prepared for any
emergency.
Aside from holding in-house fire
safety trainings, RBC also sends its personnel for fire safety
training at the Fire Safety Department in Berakas, said RBC Personnel
& Services Manager, Siti Normah Haji Talip.
RBC
has selected fire wardens who will be responsible in accounting all
personnel on duty and disseminating proper safety procedures for their
departments, she said. -- Courtesy of Borneo
