Triple Whammy For Local Drug Trafficker

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 40-year-old local man, who was found in possession of more than nine grammes of Methylamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, was sentenced to five years' imprisonment and five strokes of the cane by the Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Abdul Manaf bin Ibrahim was also fined $1,500 for consuming 'Syabu'. He failed to pay the fine and was ordered to serve a three months' jail sentence in default.

The defendant, a first offender, was caught by a team of police personnel at the area behind the Sultan OmarAli Saifuddien Mosque in Kampong Sumbiling Lama on May 12, 2005. The police caught him with 9.798 grammes of Methylamphetamine. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
