Manggis Bersatu Wins Basing Challenge

Bandar Seri Begawan - The final of Melabau Trophy Challenge 2006 was recently held at Gelanggang, Kg Manggis 2 in Man Muara.

The gasing tournament, organised by Kg Manggis Bersatu gasing team, was attended by National Gasing Federation president Dato Hj Puasa bin OKSP Tudin, Pehin Dato Awg Hj Zakaria bin Dam Hi Sulaiman, Pehin Dato Hj Ahmad Wally Skinner and residents of Kg Manggis.

In the "bergurau" category, Awg Lait bin Hj Lisa and Awg Sapar bin Hj Rashid from Manggis Bersatu team emerged as winners for spinning the gasing for the longest time of 53 minutes and 53 seconds.

In the "berpalu" category, Manggis Bersatu team beat Kg Tanjung Nangka team in the final to snatch the top spot, while the third place went to the Prisons Department.

According to Awg Selamat bin Abdullah, secretary of the organising committee of the tournament, the prize presentation will be held soon. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
