Delegates Meet Ahead 6th Of Asean

Begawan - Brunei Darussalam is currently hosting the 6th Asean
Skills Competition from September 3 to 12.
A welcoming event for the
contingents' heads of delegations was held yesterday morning at the
International Convention Centre in Berakas. On hand to welcome the
delegates was Awg Hj Mohd Daud bin Hj Mahmud, Deputy Permanent
Secretary at the Ministry of Education.

Hj Daud in his speech welcomed the Myanmar contingent, whose members
are taking part in the competition for the first time. He added that
the objectives of the competition is to enhance skills among workers,
to foster technical cooperation in vocational and technical education
and training between member countries, to encourage close cooperation
between governments, industries, employers and workers organisations
and vocational training centres, to recognise work excellence as well
as to develop a new generation of highly skilled workers.
The Second Technical Committee
Meeting was conducted yesterday morning to discuss the programme for
the 6th Asean Skills Competition and issues raised from the First
Technical Committee Meeting and to confirm the names of the jury panel
chairpersons, chief experts and competitors for each skill area.
In the afternoon, deliberations were
carried out to finalise the preparations for the competition,
confirmation of the test projects, task allocations and the marking
scheme that will be used by the jury panels.
Some 400 participants representing
Asean member countries will be taking part in the competition. -- Courtesy of Borneo
