Bicycle Expedition At Youth
Festival

Begawan - Lumapas Youth Association (PERLU) in cooperation with
the Department of Youth and Sports, residents of Kampong Lumapas A and
B, Sekolah Rendah Lumapas and Sekolah Ugama Lumapas held a Bicycle
Expedition at Sekolah Rendah Lumapas at 7.30am yesterday.
The expedition was one of the many
activities of the Youth Festival held in conjunction with His
Majesty's 60th birthday. Present as guest of honour was Permanent
Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Dato Paduka
Haji Jemat bin Hj Ampal.
The bicycle expedition started from
Sekolah Rendah Lumapas towards Limau Manis Mosque and continued on to
the industrial site and back. More than 50 people participated in the
expedition including youths and senior citizens. After the expedition,
a prize presentation ceremony was held for the winners of a bicycle
race that was held on August 13.
The winner in the boy's category aged
12 and below was Muhd Safui bin Lamit while the girl's category aged
12 and below was won by NurFahah Farhana binti Roseni.
The winner in the male open category
was Sandey bin Morsidie while the women's open category was won by
Dayangku Buang binti Pengiran Haji Sulaiman.
Awang
Morsidie bin Haji Othman, the winner of the male veteran category,
received a mountain bike.
The youth festival that opened on
August 27 ended yesterday. During the festival various activities were
held including the bicycle race, paramotor flight exhibition from the
Kelab Penerbangan Model ABDB, cultural and arts exhibition, tug of
war, entertainment night, youth festival 2006 concert and various
others.
The youth festival is a new project
organised by the district's youth association aimed at involving
youths in beneficial activities and make them more active in mukims
