Minister Leaves For ASEM Meeting

Adanan arrived in Potsdam, Berlin, Germany to attend the I' ASEM
Labour and Employment Ministers Conference which started yesterday
(September 3) and ends September 5.
Senior officers of government
departments under the ministry were present at the Brunei
International Airport VIP Lounge to see the minister off.
The Asia Europe meeting (ASEM)
comprises of 25 EU member states, the European Commission and the 13
Asian countries including Brunei Darussalam, China, Japan, Indonesia,
Cambodia, the Republic of Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the
Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
It is primarily a platform for the
foreign, economic and finance ministers of the ASEM states to meet at
regular intervals to hold European-Asian dialogues.
The conference in Potsdam carries the
theme, "More and Better Jobs Working Jointly to Strengthen the Social
Dimension of Globalisation".
The participating ministers will be
discussing the possibilities and the challenges posed by globalisation,
international division of tasks and restructuring.
The exchange of ideas and information
will focus on suitable strategies to permit all citizens to benefit
from the process of globalisation.
In addition to the political
discussion in the plenary meeting, the ministers will be holding three
parallel workshops, which are the "Growth and Employment, How Can
Positive Interaction Be Enhanced", "Investment in Human Resources, Key
Factor for Economic Progress and Social Inclusion" and "Regional
Cooperation, the Best Way to Strengthen the Social Dimension of
