Vietnam Ambassador Extends N-Day

Begawan - In conjunction with the Socialist Republic of Vietnam
61st National Day celebration, Mr Ha Hong Hai, Vietnam's Ambassador to
Brunei, extended greetings and best wishes on behalf of the leaders,
the government and people of Vietnam to His Majesty the Sultan and
Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the royal family, His Majesty's
government and the people, recently in a press statement.
Brunei and Vietnam have been very
cooperative in the framework ofAsean and other regional and
international conferences and forums. Both countries share similar
views on numerous international and regional issues since they are
consistent in upholding the, main principles of the UN Charter and
International law.
Bilateral ties between the two
countries have also witnessed new developments over the past years.
New Vietnamese leaders, State
President Nguyen Minh Triet and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dzung, also
sent a joint congratulatory message to His Majesty in conjunction with
the monarch's birthday. They also expressed their confidence that His
Majesty "will continue to attend and promote a great relationship for
the benefit of the people in both countries and for peace, stability,
cooperation and development in the region and worldwide".
Additionally, at the invitation of
His Majesty's government, the republic sent the Vietnamese People's
Army military band to participate in BIT 2006 and a team to partake in
the first Asean tug-of-war to join Brunei in celebrating His Majesty's
60' birthday.
He further highlighted another new
development in the BruneiVietnam relationship. which hopes to promote
tourism, trade and service. Also great developments, in particular, in
trade and investment from both sides.
"In celebrating our National Day,
once again, I would like to wish His Majesty and the royal family good
health and long life, as well as the government and people of Brunei
greater prosperity and happiness. May the friendship and cooperation
between
Brunei and Vietnam continue to
