RBA Raises Fuel Surcharge, Fares To HK And London

Bandar Seri Begawan – Royal Brunei Airlines (RBA) will be increasing its fuel surcharge for certain destinations in response to the rising price of jet fuel.

The increase which will take effect from 1st October 2005 will affect tickets for flights from Bandar Seri Begawan to Hong Kong, Shanghai, Frankfurt and London.

The surcharge for travel to Hong Kong and Shanghai will be raised from $25 to $35 while travel to Frankfurt and London will be increased from $45 to $65.

Previous surcharge is still applied to all tickets that are issued before the 30" September 2005.

In a statement, RBA stated that it will continue to monitor the price of jet fuel and review its surcharge at regular intervals.

In June last year, RBA began imposing a fuel surcharge on all of its tickets amounting to $8 on flights to destinations inAsean, NorthAsia, Calcutta and Darwin, and $16 on flights to Dubai, Brisbane, Perth, Auckland, Frankfurt and London.

In another press release from RBA, its frequent flyer programme, Royal Skies is offering its members special promotional fares to selected destinations in the month of October.

From now until 31st October 2005, Royal Skies members can purchase tickets at a discounted fare plus half off the normal mileage redemption required. This promotion is valid for flights departing from Bandar Seri Begawan between 1st October and 31st October 2005.

Destinations on offer include London, Sydney, Manila, Bangkok and Dubai. For a return Economy Class ticket to London, members only need to pay $799 plus a redemption of 30,000 Royal Skies miles.
