Exposure To The Working World

Bandar Seri Begawan - A group of special trainees from the Pusat Ehsan Mentalink Unit Sheltered Workshop are currently undergoing on-the-job training at the Tabung Amanah Pekerja (TAP) under. the Ministry of Finance.

According to Pusat Ehsan Programme Coordinator Simon Rajendran, the trainees were invited by TAP Management to complete manual tasks following technical faults from the automated machines.

The trainees - who have been posted on the job assignment since Wednesday - are experiencing their first of such on-site job' opportunities.

Although initially faced with several obstacles - such as getting the trainees to adapt to the new environment - the group has since become even more efficient. The groups of over 12 trainees were involved in tasks that included folding, inserting and sealing statements into envelopes from 8.30am to 3.30pm.

The progress and speed of trainees were recorded by accompanying Pusat Ehsan trainers. The trainees have advanced from completing 3,000 statements a day to 7,500 a day.

"The group has shown tremendous effort and great performance skill in their daily task - which is as good as any other employee in productivity quantity," said Simon Rajendran.

Pusat Ehsan extended its appreciation to Tabung Amanah Pekerja (TAP) for giving the special trainees an opportunity to prove themselves, while at the same time experiencing on-site training and being paid for a job well done.
