Five Illegals Caught In Belait

Kuala Belait -
Five foreign nationals were detained under suspicions of
breaking immigration laws, during an `Ops Basmi 78' raid conducted
yesterday by the Enforcment Section of the Belait District Immigration
Department.
The five men consisted of an
Indonesian and an Indian national who were found working using only a
visitor's pass, two Indonesians who were caught working for an
unauthorised employer, and another Indian national who was caught
without his documents at hand.
They are currently being held for
further examination by the Enforcement Section.
Five locations were targeted the
operation including construction sites and shops throughout the
District. Some 29 foreigners from Indonesia, India, Malaysia, and the
Philippines were questioned during the operation.
'Ops Basmi 78' in the Belait District
involved a team of six officers from the Immigration Department led by
a Senior Immigration Department Officer, Awg Yunus bin Omar. The
operation began at 9.30am and took two hours to complete.
The first suspect, aged 28, was
caught at the BSP staff housing area in Panaga Seria whereas the
second person aged 25 was caught at a rented house in Kg Mukim Sungai
Liang.
The pair are believed to be in breach
of Chapter 28(3) (d) of the Immigration Act (In possession of forged
documents). --
