Tragic End To Fishing Trip

Bandar Seri Begawan - A fishing trip on Friday to Tanjong Pelumpong in Brunei waters close to Muara turned into a tragedy for a 48-yearold man who drowned.

The deceased was identified as Saab bin Isa from Spg 824, Kg. Tanah Jambu. According to a RIPAS Hospital doctor, he sustained injuries in the head and leg after being hit by the boat propeller.

The deceased was on a fishing trip with his wife. The family of the deceased lodged a report to a Marine police at around 6.17am yesterday. It was learnt that the mishap occurred at around midnight on Friday.

A search and rescue operation was conducted by personnel from the Muara Fire Services and Marine Police. Family members also took part in the search.

The man's body was found at 9.2 Sam yesterday, some 60 metres from the scene of the incident.

The body was sent to RIPAS Hospital for post-mortem. Thin is the second incident in less than a week. Last Monday, a 24-year-old man drowned near Pulau Sibungur after trying to save his grandfather who fell of his boat that went out of control. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
