Three Jailed Over Forged
Immigration Papers

Begawan - Three Filipino women were sentenced to jail by the
Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday after pleading guilty to having
forged Immigration permit endorsements as was evident in their
respective passports.
Rosalina Towes Baguio, 41, was
sentenced to two months' imprisonment for having in her possession,
without lawful authority, one forged "permitted to leave" endorsement
purportedly dated May 6, 2005 as it appeared on page 20 of her
Phillipines passport and one of the same endorsement permit dated May
9, 2005 on the same page of her passport.
Grenelyn
Gella Gutay, 28, and Raquel Mojica Mortil, 33 were both sentenced to
one month imprisonment after each pleading guilty to having one forged
"permitted to leave" endorsement dated Aug 4, 2005 as it appeared on
pages 13 and 20 in their Philippines passports respectively.
Both defendants were stopped by the
Immigration officer on duty at the arrivals clearance at the Kuala
Lurah Immigration Control Post on August 18, 2005 upon doubt over
their respective "permitted to leave" passes.
Meanwhile, a 36 year-old Indian
national, Aliyar Noorul Ameen was sentenced to three months in jail
and three strokes of the cane by the same court yesterday for
remaining in this country unlawfully after the expiry of his special
pass.
The Immigration Prosecuting officer
said the defendant was arrested three days ago by police personnel
from the Gadong Police Headquarters at one unnumbered house located at
the vicinity of Kg Sungai Hanching, Jln Muara.
The defendant was found to have
remained unlawfully in Brunei Darussalam for one year and eight months
since the expiry of his special pass on January 29, 2004. --
