8th BISAM fires away

Bandar Seri Begawan - The 8th Brunei International Skill At Arms Meet (BISAM) officially began yesterday in a ceremony held at Gallery Range I of the Binturan Shooting Range.

Presentas guest of honour at the opening ceremony was Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Hj Awg Halbi bin Hj Md Yussof, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), representing the Deputy Minister of Defence.

The event which concludes on September 29 involves some eight countries represented by the shooting teams of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Royal Brunei Police Force, British Forces, Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, Indonesian National Armed Forces, Lao People's Army, Armed Forces of the Phillippines, Malaysian Armed Forces, and the Singapore Armed Forces.

The opening ceremony was followed by a "Novelty Pistol Shoot" for VIPs. Later yesterday morning, the RBAF Commander also received courtesy calls from visiting Deputy Chiefs of Defence Forces and representatives at the Penanjong Garrison Officers Mess. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
