AEMC, Urban Forum To Present Dr
Kaplan

Begawan - ASEAN-EC Management Centre yesterday signed a
partnership agreement with Urban Forum to jointly present Dr Robert
Kaplan, the co-creator of Balanced Scorecard, to Brunei for the first
time.
Signing on behalf of the centre was
Pg Harun Pg Hj Aliuddin, Acting AEMC Director. Mal Tennekoon, Managing
Director, represented Urban Forum.
Witnessing the signing ceremony was
the guest of honour, Pg Dato Paduka Hj Abd Hamid Pg Hj Mohd Yassin,
Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office.
There was a special preview yesterday
on the one-day seminar in April next year when Dr Kaplan will be
speaking in Brunei for the first time.
The one-day seminar on April 3, 2006
is titled "Managing for Results: Using Balanced Scorecard to Achieve
Better Performance and Good Governance in the Public Sector".
It is targeted at senior leaders,
commanders, executive directors and managers from the government
agencies, HR & Training directors, academics and executives looking
for ways to improve the quality and efficiency of their operational
units.
Participants can meet and question
the master on executing business strategy: discover ways of meeting
government performance requirements and deliver measurable results and
learn how to set a strategic agenda and set performance standards.
It will help delegates understand how
to meet the needs of diverse constituents: hear how other leaders in
government implement change to manage constrained financial and human
resources: and master strategy alignment, execution and sustainability
to drive performance and governance in organisations.
Prof Kaplan is Marvin Professor of
Leadership Development at the Harvard Business School. He has served
on the Harvard Faculty for 18 years, after serving for 16 years' at
the Graduate School of Administration 9GSIA), Carnegie-Mellon
University.
He has authored or co-authored 12
books, 15 Harvard Business Review articles, and more than 120 other
papers.
Fifty senior officers and managers
yesterday attended the ceremony from the public and private sectors.
