BIMP-EAGA Ministerial Meeting

Begawan - The 10th Brunei Darussalam-IndonesiaMalaysia-Philippines
- East Asean Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Ministerial Meeting was held
yesterday at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.
The meeting was chaired by Pehin Dato
Lim Jock Seng, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
The theme of this year's Ministerial
Meeting was "Enhancing Public Sector's Role in BIMP-EAGA: Creating a
Conducive Environment for Business".
Its provisional agenda includes a
report and discussion on the result of the 13th BIMP-EAGA SOM and the
preparation for the 2nd BIMP-EAGA Leaders Meeting on December 11, 2005
in Kuala Lumpur, and setting the date and venue of the 11th BIMP-EAGA
Ministerial Meeting.
Ministers also met with Clare Martin,
Chief Minister of Northern Territory, Australia and discussed ways to
strengthen cooperation between the two sides.
On Tuesday night, the Second Minister
of Foreign Affairs and Trade hosted a welcoming dinner for the
ministers and delegates of the ministerial meeting and the East Asean
Business Summit. --
