Security Officers Commissioned
By Azrol Azmi

Bandar Seri Begawan - Security services in the Sultanate are always ready especially in the roles of peacekeeping and securing a building or an open public area. Security officers and personnel should be extra vigilant against negative elements that would jeopardise safety and properties.

This was stressed by the Deputy Minister of the Prime Minister's Office, Dato PadukaAwang Haji EussoffAgaki bin Haji Ismail, when he officiated the Sphere Secure Services yesterday morning.

He highlighted the birthday titah of His Majesty on the importance of peace and sovereignty in the country.

He said the titah said the public and the private sector are playing an important role, apart from the law enforcement agency, to defend, protect and maintain the peace of the country.

Six security officers from the Sphere Secure Services yesterday, including Pg Hj Abd Qahar bin Pg Sanggamara Diraja Mejar General (Rtd) Pg Hj Ibnu Ba'astih (Chief Operation Officer) were commissioned. They had gone through an intensive training including combat without weapons, radio operation, first aid and fire fighting procedures for five weeks.

Dato Paduka Haji EussoffAgaki urged security officers and personnel to give their full cooperation with the relevant authority to prevent any crime from happening and defend the sovereignty of the nation.

Sphere Secure Services started February 24, 2004 as a commercialised local security company. It was given an authorisation licence by the Royal Brunei Police Force to provide security services for the public members in Brunei.

Thirty three local personnel were in the first batch of intake to serve with Sphere Secure Service. Five were given senior rank and were commissioned yesterday by the guest of honour.

Also present were Haji Omar bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Labour Commissioner and other senior officers of government offices. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
