Menglait and Manggis win in cricket

Menglait and Manggis won their matches in twenty-20 cricket tournament organised by PKNBD at Jerudong Park Polo Club ground on Sunday.

This is a new version of the limited over cricket. It is just 20 overs game. It is the first time we are trying here in Brunei.

In the first match BSB XI won the toss and elected to bat first in hot sunny conditions. They did not find batting easy and only Sidiq who hit 15 runs and Aleem 10 offered any resistance to Manggis bowlers.

Sujay took 4 wickets and Dr Irshad took 2 wickets. Dr Irshad hit 11 runs and gave Manggis early momentum on their way to chase 79 runs.

Sujay 19 runs and Sandeep 11 keep a cool nerve in the Manggis run chase and finished the game in style to shatter the BSB XI hopes of reaching the final.

In the second match Menglait had set a target of 106 runs after Faheed 31 had got their innings off to a positive start and Qaseem 27 carried on the momentum with his solid batting.

In reply despite a brief flurry from Basil 27 and Devdass 10, RBYC fell 20 runs short of their target.
