YSHHB Holds 3rd Meeting For Aceh's
Reconstruction

Begawan - The Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB)
yesterday held a third meeting to discuss the second phase of Aceh's
reconstruction after the tsunami disaster on December 26, 2004.
The meeting was chaired by Pehin
Dato,Haji Awg Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman.
Among the agenda of the meeting was
to receive working visit reports from the entourage of YSHHB officers,
Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports, in
assessing the types of assistance Brunei can contribute to in the
second phase.
In addition, the meeting also
discussed various proposals for the type of aid neededfor the victims
ofAceh such as repairing Raya Baitul Rahman.Mosque in Banda Aceh,
building a housing complex for orphans, building a mosque to occupy
300-500 people, building a shelter for the tsunami victims, building a
complex for the victims in Teupin Rambot (Desa Ladang Baro) and
building a community health care.
The contributions collected from
members of the public in Brunei stand at B$2,239,212.22.
The breakdown of the collection are
B$747,513.05 from YSHHB initiative fund and B$1,491,699.17 from KKBS
and KHEU.
Apart from that, YSHHB has also
received consent from His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of
Brunei Darussalam to contribute B$150,000 for the reconstruction of
Raya Baitul Rahman Mosque as well as to provide utilities and books.
The signing of a memorandum of
understanding (MOU) for the reconstruction of Raya Baitul Rahman
Mosque was held on July 22, at Iman Besar Masjid Raya Baitul Rahman
office.
Signing on behalf of YSHHB was the
Managing Director Dato Haji Ali Hashim bin Haji Daud, while Imam Besar
HA Sanusi Hanafi represented Raya Baitul Rahman Mosque.
With the signing, YSHHB has elected a
consultant as well as a contractor to repair the mosque which will be
completed before the month of Ramadhan this year.
Also present at the event were the
Board of Directors of Yayasan, Deputy Commander of the Royal Brunei
Armed Forces, representative of the Permanent Secretary at the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representative of the Permanent Secretary
at the Ministry of Education and the Permanent Secretary of the
Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. --
