Countdown To KB Carnival

Kuala Belait - With the rapid growth in the number of shops, restaurants and department stores in the Belait District, the Bumiputera Building Entrepreneurs are now facing stiff competition.

In light of this, His Majesty's government - through the Kuala Belait Municipal Department - has undertaken efforts to assist these entrepreneurs by reducing building rentals. However, more efforts are required to assist the entrepreneurs in reaching a successful level.

According to Kuala Belait Bumiputera Building Entrepreneurs Assistant Chairman Awang Haji Mahmud bin Haji Masron, the first step towards reaching that level of success is through a joint initiative involving all committee members in organising a weekend carnival themed `Carnival Riang Ria.'

The three-day carnival would be carried out along the road near the Bumiputera Business Building in KB town commencing September 23, he added.

The first of such carnival draws the support and cooperation of the Kuala Belait Municipal Department, and will boast a bazaar selling clothes and food among others. It will also see a line-up of stage entertainment that includes international traditional dance performances, sports and singing.

A Muslimah Woman Fashion Show and a Modern Wedding Fashion Show will add colours to the carnival.

Visitors can also learn a few pointers from the numerous self-defence demonstrations planned for the event, such as Pancak Silat, Tae Kwan Do, Karate Do and Tai Chi.

In addition, the Belait District Fire-fighting Team will also be on hand to hold a briefing and fire prevention demonstration to increase awareness among the public.

Meanwhile, live band performances, colouring competitions, cooking contests and lucky draws are among the list of activities planned to lure the youths to the event. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
