Foreigner Jailed For Fake Social
Visit Pass

Begawan - A 28-year-old Indian national was sentenced to two
months' imprisonment by the Bandar Magistrate's Court after he pleaded
guilty to having a forged Immigration pass endorsed on his passport.
The defendant, Selvam Kalimuthu,
admitted to having the said pass on page 13 of his passport dated
March 28, 2005, which is an offence under: section 55(l)(1) of the
Immigration Act, Chapter 17.
The Immigration prosecutor said the
defendant came to the Enforcement Section on June 27 this year and
produced his Indian passport to the investigation officer.
The investigating officer upon
checking his passport found that the defendant's social visit pass
endorsed on page 13 was not in order.
According to the prosecutor, the
defendant admitted that before the expiry of his genuine social visit
pass on March 21, this year, he gave his passport to a man' named
Kuthbudeen, who then passed it to another person named Ameed.
The defendant admitted that he had
never met Ameed and the arrangements for his passport were made
through Kuthbudeen. The defendant also gave Ameed a sum of $150 to pay
for the extension of the said pass. --
