Pedestrians Warned Against Jaywalking Along Highway
By Rosli Abidin Yahya

Bandar Seri Begawan - Pedestrians are advised not to cross the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Highway, especially near Kiulap, at 'their whim and fancy.

Such acts not only put their lives at risk but endanger others as well, some road users said.

They said some pedestrians preferred to risk their lives by crossing the dual-carriageway to reach the other side.

"Maybe a few overhead bridges can be built along the highway, especially near Kiulap, to help pedestrians cross. This way, pedestrians don't have to risk their lives just to cross the road," they said.

They said sometimes pedestrians could be seen carrying bicycles across the highway.

A section of the highway is not meant to be crossed as barriers have been put up as road dividers. "But the metal divider has not stopped people from crossing the highway," they said. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
