SUAMPRIPAD Students Visit Labuan
By NYL
Bandar Seri
Begawan - A total of 31 Form Five students with 25 supervising
teachers and their family members from the Raja Isteri PengiranAnak
Damit Arabic Religious Secondary School for Girls (SUAMPRIPAD) went on
a three-day educational trip to Labuan from September 1214. It was the
first educational trip abroad organised for the school's students.
Aimed at giving the students
first-hand experience in learning history, the trip also served to
motivate and help them overcome some of the pressures faced in their
final preparation for their major exams.
The places of interest they visited
included Labuan Museum, Labuan Square, International Water Sport
Complex and Marine Museum as well as World War II Memorial Park, a
poignant memorial to the 4,000 Australian, New Zealand, and British
Allied servicemen who had lost their lives during World War 11.
They also visited Labuan
Matriculation College, University Malaysia Sabah International Campus,
Peace Park and Japanese Surrender Point as well as the Chimney, which
symbolised the coal-mining days of Labuan from 1847 to 1912.
The final destination was Labuan Bird
Park, home to some 580 species of birds found in Borneo's diverse
habitats. --
